Super excited about publishing 2 new books in the New Year! My brother Gary Fisher and I have been co-authoring a Young Adult, fantasy series: The Sorciel Saga, and we have published Book 1 and Book 2 on Amazon!  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MDV8LKH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1546403001&sr=8-1&keywords=awakening+by+gary+fisher+and+heather+bowhay

The Sorciel Saga volume 1, Awakening

Jackson Thomas has never believed in the supernatural, until a mythological creature rescues him from the Louisiana bayou. Thinking his imagination is to blame, Jackson dismisses the incident and worries about normal things like starting high school and talking to girls. But when fantasy collides with reality, Jackson is hurled into a mystical world. He is stalked by an old man who disappears into thin air, his family is attacked by ghostly shadows, and then his dad goes missing.

Embarking on a mission to find his dad, Jackson and his best friend, Trey, discover an Isle in the sky, brimming with mystery, prophecy, and familiar faces. If Jackson accepts his place in this magical society, he shatters his belief he is ordinary but gains insight into a magical future and information about his dad's disappearance. Or does he? An unprecedented uprising of dark magic has put a target on Jackson's back...

UPDATE ON BOOK 3 - DENTELLE

It's August 1st and I thought I better give you all an update. Here's the rundown on Dentelle. Seriously, the last 3/4 of the book are in the final stages of editing!!! I am so, so close to finishing that ever important step  - thanks to Karla, Heather, Laci, my husband, and my mom for finding mistakes and making suggestions! My guess...sometime in the next week to week and a half. :)

Short but true story: I finished the last sentence of Dentelle on Monday, July 22nd around 11:00pm. I stepped outside to breathe fresh air and just feel free, I guess. I was greeted by an amazingly bright, what appeared to be full moon. I thought to myself - How ironic is this? Can't be. But I hurried back inside and checked the calendar and it really was the day of the full moon for the month of July. Perfect timing! I slept sooooo well that night!

Thank you all for waiting patiently. Know that I am hurrying and it won't be long now! As always, Happy Reading! :)

Coming August 2013 - DENTELLE! Book 3 in the Guardian Series!

In between teaching and life in general, I am diligently working on book three in the Guardian series - DENTELLE! Look for it sometime this August! :)

Super excited to be back in Lexi's world again. Sometimes when I get writing - the hours just fly by, I'm so engaged that I forget to eat lunch, and then when I look up at the clock it's suddenly 5:00 p.m. and I realize I'm late picking up the kids up from cross country or soccer. Not to mention, I haven't even started dinner yet! Yikes!

Ereader Daily Extra is Awesome!

Super Excited! During the week of May 18 - May 25, EReader Daily Extra is featuring me as an Author of the Week! How cool is that? Yay! Can you tell I'm excited?

KINDLE FREEBIE

My first novel, Amethyst, finally became a FREE Kindle Book!
This YA Paranormal romance/ urban fantasy has been free at Barnes & Noble, Smashwords.com, iBooks, Kobo, and Diesel since October but was just made available for free at Amazon. It is the first book in the Guardian series.

The power of FREE at Amazon is truly amazing! In less than two weeks there have been 5401 downloads!! Now, if everyone I know, would tell everyone they know to download Amethyst, the possibilities are staggering....If you don't have a kindle, the book can still be downloaded for free onto a nook, Kobo, iPad, or eReader of some type.

A few tips that help an author's book be downloaded more times at Amazon:

1.  Leave a review and rating.

2. "Like" it on Amazon.

3. There are also "Tag Words" which can be found when you scroll down the product page on Amazon. If you take 10 seconds and place a checkmark in the tag boxes - it increases the books popularity by having it appear in other places on Amazon. For example, it will say Check the boxes next to the tags you consider relevant. So for Amethyst, you could check next to paranormal romance, fantasy, etc. etc. You can check 15 tags.

My second novel in the Guardian series, Linked, is available for $2.99. What has also been exciting is watching how many downloads this novel has had since Amethyst went free at Amazon.  Can you guess? Well.... the current winning number is one hundred and sixteen.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has downloaded my books. Please keep passing the word around...Facebook and Twitter are great places to suggest Amethyst and Linked to your friends and family.  I will keep  you updated on downloads, because that has been soooo much fun to watch.

Just so you know, I am currently working on book three in the series. Target date of sometime in 2013 for the release!
Happy, Happy New Year! May 2013 bring you much joy and happiness!
sincerely,
Heather Bowhay

AMETHYST is published on Amazon!

Okay...so wild to see my book for sale on Amazon! Amethyst is now published and available through Amazon for $2.99. Hoping to get Linked, the second book in the Guardian series published on Amazon later this week!

LINKED Book #2 in the Guardian series is published!

Linked, book #2 in the Guardian series is now published at Smashwords.com and it is available for $2.99 for any eReader. So awesome and rewarding! I've sold 6 copies so far, which is exciting. Thank you Heather Steele for helping me with formatting and designing the cover. You rock!

Survived the 12th Birthday Party- barely!

With some intense planning and preparation, I survived Laci's 12th birthday party, which included 6 boys and 8 sixth grade girls! Homemade caramel apples, dinner, music, laughter, and lots of crazy! Games: marshmallow toss, battle of the lemons, M&M hunt, name that tune, candy relay, and an improv game. Boys left at 8:30 pm and girls slept over. Oh wait...did I say sleep, I mean laughed, giggled, and bounced around all night. Laci does not have a phone yet, so it wasn't until 2 am when I realized the root of the problem...texting! Needless to say, I confiscated all phones, and things quieted down about 10 minutes later.

Most valuable lesson learned: when Laci gets a phone, she turns it into Dan or I before she goes to bed each night! I know, I know...what a mean mom! Technology requires a whole new set of parenting skills! :)

A cruise to Alaska!!

Wow! We are totally excited! There was a friendly 7 week competition among Haggen stores - one that had to do with items per order and sales per something-or-other - and in the end, the winning store would receive an all employee BBQ and the store manager would get a cruise to Alaska!

The Ferndale Store rocked and won, which means Dan won the cruise. I'm still in shock but totally stoked. We're hoping to go next year, looking forward to some alone time (can't even remember what that is) while mom stays with the kiddos. So, a huge THANK YOU! to all the awesome employees at the Ferndale store. Dan's been with the company 41 years, and he's never received anything as exciting as this. The Inside Passage should be absolutely beautiful...

Another favorite - a favorite quote!

"The more you read,
The more you know.
The more you know,
The smarter you grow.
The smarter you grow,
The stronger your voice,
When speaking your mind,
Or making a choice"

"Favorites"

Dawson wrote out algebraic equations for hours with the same pencil, and never once did he bother to get up and sharpen it. Eventually, it was so dull I think he was writing with the yellow paint on the side of the pencil. Honestly, I was going crazy. Witnessing such flagrant disregard for neatness and for a clean and precise paper was more than disturbing. It was torturous. That's when I realized I'm OCD when it comes to sharp pencils. I always have at least 3 razor sharp #2's close by at all times. I start the day in the classroom sharpening pencils.

I grabbed Dawson's pencil, ran it back into the kitchen, and slammed it into my automatic pencil sharpener. The relief was immediate. When I gave it back to him, he said simply, "Oh, thanks mom. It wasn't really that bad." I wish that was the end of it, but I of course went into a lecture about the difference between "A" work and "C" work and how it all starts with a sharp pencil.

He appeared to be listening, but I doubt he heard me. 6th grader and all - who knows? Any-hoo, I decided I needed a quick break from cooking dinner. And writing with a perfectly pointed #2 was just what I needed. I grabbed a post-it note and decided to list my 10 favorite material things. I wanted it to be quick and spontaneous - a stream of thought. Well really, I only had about one minute until the buzzer went off for the blueberry muffins.

This is what I came up with:
1. Sharp pencils (of course)
2. Red licorice (not really a material item, as once it's eaten it's gone - but who cares)
3. Books and Nook
4. Ipod ( A necessity when walking)
5. Pillow (I can't go on a trip without it)
6. Crock Pot (Crazy, I know. But it so simplifies my life)
7. Yoga pants (I live in them)
8. My computer (where I write, research, and chat with friends)
9. My green glassware (Depression glass collection started for me by my mother-in-law)
10. Android (sad but true, I love my phone. I don't even text or have voice mail - but I love it)

Okay that's it - my quick list of 10 Favorite things. Try it and see what you get. It's rather interesting and rather revealing to say the least. I enjoyed listening to the kids answers on that one. I'll have to try it in the classroom. Wonder how many kids will list their Kinect and their DS's?

Kindle or Nook?

I did it. I broke down and bought myself an eReader. Skeptic to Believer in the amount of time it took to download a free copy of Pride and Prejudice...Umm, like 20 seconds! Awesome, amazing, and soooo cool.

A lot of women are tempted by chocolate. Not me; I'm allergic. Books are my vice. Let's just say the "man cave" never came to fruition. But my hubby will be celebrating now. No more bookcases. I'll be holding my entire library in the palm of my hand.

Don't get me wrong; I still love paper books. Always. But 'tis the season for a grown up gadget.

So, which eReader was it? The Kindle or Nook? I researched and read reviews for hours. I held them and even smelled them. (Odorless! Which is probably a good thing).

In the end I chose the Nook. Ohhhhh, how I wanted the Kindle! It was lighter (by 2ounces) and fit in my purse. I just liked it. But, the Nook had one major advantage.....drum roll......I could check out library books. That rocks! And I can purchase ebooks from other companies, not just Barnes & Noble. Whereas, with the Kindle you can only purchase from Amazon.

I love my Nook! I'm reading several books at the same time, and they're always together. I spent the extra $50 for the 3G version and can download books or search Google anytime, anywhere. Way, way worth it. I searched for "free" books today, and there were 183,000 title to choose from. Insane.

'Tis the Season. And I'm soooo happy!
